Since its inception in 1920, The Biblica has been published by the Pontifical Bible Institute in Rome and is a prestigious peer-reviewed research journal. Published four times a year, the journal is dedicated to the in-depth study of the Old and New Testaments, while focusing on cross-biblical scholarly inquiry. Historical studies examine the social, cultural, and religious contexts of biblical texts in particular historical periods, and how these contexts have influenced the interpretation and application of the Bible. Through these multidisciplinary research methods, the journal aims to promote a comprehensive understanding and in-depth discussion of biblical texts.

The journal covers a wide range of research areas, including but not limited to exegesis, philology, and history. Exegetical studies focus on the original language and grammatical structure of biblical texts to help scholars more accurately understand the meaning of the original Bible. Philology focuses on the analysis of the book-making process, version differences and textual criticism of biblical texts, providing an important perspective for understanding the historical background and dissemination of the Bible.
